As a parent, I have always understood the importance of 'leading by example' with my children. After all, there is nothing worse than that awkward moment when your child witnesses you betraying your own words and standards and admonishes you for it. As most people know, kids have an innate ability to sniff out hypocrisy and tend to become angry with a sense of injustice for the suspect adults contradictory behavior. But, as children become adults, sometimes that strong principle of "lead by example" gets thrown by the wayside in favor of opportunity and expediency and is replaced with the principle of 'do as I say, not as I do.'

No better example of this hypocrisy can be found than in Hollywood. We see it on a daily basis in movies and television programming. But the Hollywood "do as I say not as I do" hypocrisy reaches epic proportions every four years during the presidential election as many A-list actors and actresses become professional activists and lobbyists lending their fame to their candidates of choice -- along with their radical agendas.

With Blogs, Twitter, Facebook, and endless celebrity websites and magazines, celebrities now have their own mobile pulpits to proselytize the masses with their "get out the vote" campaigns and endless media blitzes to convince people to vote for the liberal agenda. But do they "lead by example" and live the beliefs they promote to the masses, or do they live by the philosophy of "do as I say not as I do?" Should you vote with these high-profile actors who tell you to vote for tolerance of others, the environment, women's rights to choose, and against 'greedy' Wall Street wealth? Or will you watch their actions -- Hollywood wealth invested in 'greedy' Wall Street, intolerance of people's views other than their own, their large carbon footprints in the form of energy-sucking homes and private jets. How about their actions that favor a woman's rights only when that woman chooses to support their pro-abortion agenda?

Matt Damon is an outspoken activist promoting an aggressive leftism. Many of the A-list celebrities who support Mr. Damon's agenda also share a similar financially lavish lifestyle thanks to their successful acting careers. Yet, he supports the 'Working Family Party' and even lent his name to the party in a 2010 New York election campaign. The 'Working Family Party' is a Socialist political party that advocates collectivist principles. According to Harvard Political Review, "meanwhile, the New York Working Families Party remains a powerful force in state politics, with a platform highlighting socialist issues including wages, public-option health care, and affordable housing." The group also supports environmentalism i.e. green initiatives and is reportedly financially backing the 'Occupy Wall Street' movement.

Damon was also heavily involved in President Obama's 2008 campaign. In a YouTube video while campaigning for the president, Mr. Damon discussed the unfortunate economic demographics of people he had served food to during a photo-op, whom he called "food insecure", and how we need "change" to help them be able to afford a meal. 

While it is commendable for Mr. Damon to have a heart for the poor and hungry, unfortunately he otherwise fits into the "do as I say and not as I do" crowd. Recently Mr. Damon bought a $15 million dollar home seen here. He also flew to Haiti with other like-minded celebrities to donate to Wyclef Jean's charity, in a private jet that cost the charity over $58,000 dollars. Should he 'lead by example' and live in, say, a three-million dollar home and give the extra money saved to the "food insecure?" How much electricity and energy does Mr. Damon use in his 8,000-plus square foot home? How big is his bank account compared to many white-collar workers on Wall Street? Perhaps the 'Occupy Wall Street' group should occupy his home. They would probably fit comfortably.

Sheryl Crow just listed her compound for almost $16 million dollars. It has three houses with a total of over 10,000 square feet. However, in an effort to 'curb global warming' she believes the general population should do their part by limiting toilet paper usage. "Although my ideas are in the earliest stages of development, they are, in my mind, worth investigating. One of my favorites is in the area of forest conservation which we heavily rely on for oxygen. I propose a limitation be put on how many squares of toilet paper can be used in any one sitting. Now, I don't want to rob any law-abiding American of his or her God-given rights, but I think we are an industrious enough people that we can make it work with only one square per restroom visit, except, of course, on those pesky occasions where 2 to 3 could be required..." Perhaps Ms. Crow should "lead by example" in limiting squares... of house footage.

Madonna is no stranger to controversy when it comes to her lack of tolerance for the Christian community. She has mocked the Christian faith by hanging herself from a cross, among other blasphemous antics. The acts were so intolerable that even many leaders in the Jewish and Muslim faiths denounced her actions against the Church. However, during one of her concerts in Russia, Madonna called on the country to support tolerance for the gay community telling the crowd of 25,000, "We all need love." I think you can determine which philosophy Madonna lives by.

Bruce Springsteen is a politically active entertainer and campaigner for President Barack Obama. He strongly opposes tax cuts for the rich and said they would "eat away at funding for the poor." However, to avoid paying steeper property taxes than the $138,000 per year he pays on his three-acre property; he has a farmer grow a few organic vegetables on his 200-acre property and only pays $4,600 on an additional 200 acres. Imagine how much money Mr. Springsteen could give to the poor if he actually paid appropriate taxes on those 200 acres. But economic expediency prevailed and Mr. Springsteen also is a perpetrator of "do as I say not as I do. '

Unfortunately, Hollywood has shown time and time again that it is unwilling to live by the same set of rules and standards expected of the general population. Perhaps, like the child that angrily points out the double standard in the suspect adult, it is time for the average citizen to do the same. Will you allow the hypocrisy of the Hollywood elite to continue and support them in the 2012 election? Or will you lead by example and vote against them?
