Our "more perfect union" was a result of a balance between idealism and pragmatism that produced one of the most unique and successful political systems in the historical record. What has gone wrong?
If we want to be honest about it, we must look to the origins of the 2nd Amendment to understand it in the context of framing the U.S. Constitution, and only then can we consider it in our present context.
