Simplistic thinking and environmentalists

Michael Crichton has written a must—read essay (really, an illustrated lecture mdae available to readers of his website). It begins with a focus on the way in which the exaggerations of the damage of Chernobyl have actually done more damage than the explosion in the reactor. But it ranges widely, in demonstrating the way complex systems must be understood. The short answer: with humility.

Like his fiction, the essay is vivid and readily understandable. Read it yourself and send it to greenie friends. It is a keeper.
