Boo-hoo
John Mearsheimer, of the "Israel Lobby" paper, was interviewed by the Asia Times about its reception. The man who said his 40 plus pages of footnotes was just the "tip of the iceberg" and who blames the inability to publish the paper in 2002 in a periodical was due to the machinations of the Israel Lobby now says this:
We fully recognized that the lobby would retaliate against us. We expected the story we told in the piece would apply to us after it was published. We are not surprised that we've come under attack by the lobby.
Boo—hoo. "Attack" is apparently the same as "criticize" — only carrying the implication of violence and blind rage. Perhaps Harvard's removal of the Kennedy School of Government logo from the paper is an "attack"?
Mearsheimer and his co—author Stephen Walt are responding as if they believe a vast conspiracy is out to get them. They are, in other words, self—discrediting.
