More on "Personality Matters"

I agree with Jennifer Rubin and have another example for her about how we need to heed those personality traits.  In the Fall of 1992 the Arkansas Democrat Gazette issued a "no endorsement" in the presidential race.  Its editors cited, among other issues, the difficulty Bill Clinton had shown making decisions while governor. The national media paid little heed to this lack of support from the candidate's home town newspaper. Soon there were people on both sides of the political aisle who dispaired at the way the Clinton administration substituted talk for action, often mistaking its own spin for genuine accomplishments. My personal favorite from Clinton's first term was a piece by Lewis Lapham in which he compared the President to an overstuffed pinata, swaying to and fro, sending out trickles of favors in response to political pressure.
