Obama still not ready for prime time
It's an outrage what they're charging for arugula these days at Whole Foods. That seems to be the received message Barack Obama delivered to Iowa farmers recently. There is fair amount of hilarity among liberal bloggers over Barack Obama's latest campaign trail gaffe, particularly since it so closely parallels a similar gaffe that seriously damaged the campaign of Michael Dukakis, the man who brought a new level of ineptness to presidential image politics. Few political pros have forgotten Dukakis' suggestion that Iowa farmers plant Belgian endive if they were troubled by low crop prices.
Drip, drip, drip, the evidence accumulates that someone just a few years out the state legislature is not a good choice for a major party nomination. When the pros start laughing, you're in trouble.
Somebody tell Eugene Robinson.
