Kucinich Drops Out of Race

Ed Lasky wonders if Dennis Kucinich will "ride off into the sunset on a flying saucer."

Frankly, I think they'll just beam him up:

Rep. Dennis J. Kucinich of Ohio is dropping his second long-shot bid for the Democratic nomination for president, he told his hometown newspaper, the Cleveland Plain Dealer.

He said he would announce the decision officially in a press conference Friday. Kucinich said he would be "transitioning out of the presidential campaign," adding that he had not told anyone other than his wife about his decision before he made the remarks to the newspaper.
Kucinich is facing a serious primary challenge from Cleveland City Councilman Joe Cimperman who has raised a quarter of a million dollars and has been running an ad accusing Kucinich of being a part-time Congressman, missing more than 300 votes in the House.

Yes, but it's so much more fun to run for president - even if your chances of being nominated rested somewhere between slim and "You've got to be kidding."

So ends the quirky campaign of one of the quirkiest candidates ever to run for president.
