Obama and Malley
The New Republic's Martin Peretz today writes that Robert Malley is not an advisor to Barack Obama. It was just less than a month ago that Peretz wrote that Malley was an adviser. At that time, the information horrified him. He also wrote that he gets the shudders when he contemplates that "Zbigniew Brzezinski ( I don't know much about his son, listed as Mark, but I can guess), Anthony Lake, Susan Rice and Robert Malley'' were on Obama's foreign policy advisers team. The Washington Post also listed Malley as an adviser (he works for a think tank that also is linked to Zbigniew Brzezinski) in this article.
If Malley has left the campaign one would like to know when this formally occurred. Was it in response to articles that have run on a variety of websites that questioned the views of the leading members of Barack Obama's foreign policy team? Peretz writes that Malley -- who specializes and has devoted his professional life to the Middle East -- is not Obama's "Middle East adviser". Is this eliding whatever role Malley does have on the foreign policy team by just a fanciful twist on titles? Has he been advising Obama in the recent past-as both Peretz and the Washington Post previously wrote? His whole career has been devoted to the Middle East and he heads up the Middle East division of an international think tank. One that is linked to Brzezenski-clearly the most senior foreign policy adviser on the Obama team. We would not be surprised if Brzezenski was responsible for having sought the advice of Malley.
Peretz does not even mention his previous post wherein he revealed he was worried about Obama's foreign policy team -- including Zbigniew Brzezenski, Susan Rice and Samantha Power. Why? Have your concerns evaporated in the heat of the campaign-a campaign that might lead to your preferred candidate occupying the White House?
We always knew that Peretz was no friend of the Clintons and supported Obama, but would he send his own post down the memory hole after just four weeks to bolster the candidacy of Obama?
Peretz seems to be playing cute with these words:
"...there are all kinds of spooky rumors that a man named Robert Malley is one of Obama's advisers, specifically his Middle East adviser".
Is the Obama campaign trying to obscure the role of Malley or just deep-six him (as they did Pastor Wright) because he presented a political problem?
Barack Obama having an Israel-hater on his foreign policy team, a man who was willing to tell lies to defame Israel and a man whose opinions clearly betray a harsh bias against our ally Israel, is what Al Gore (a Peretz friend) would call an inconvenient truth.
