Poll: Obama now leading Clinton in Texas
A shocking new poll out today from Decision Analyst shows Barack Obama leading Hillary Clinton by double digits in the race for the Texas primary:
Barack Obama has a double digit lead over Hillary Clinton in Texas, according to a statewide survey of 678 registered voters planning to vote in the March 4 Democratic Primary. The survey was conducted February 20 and 21 by Decision Analyst, a major national survey research firm. Decision Analyst projections indicate that if the election were held today Obama would win 57% to 43% over Clinton. The survey's margin of error is 3 percentage points, plus or minus, at a 90% level of confidence.The size sample may be smaller than is optimum but the poll reflects Obama's growing strength nationally in making inroads into Hillary Clinton's support. It appears that Hillary's "firewall" in Texas and Ohio are myths and that Obama may be heading for another big night on March 4.
For the Republican Primary, Decision Analyst projections indicate a John McCain win over Mike Huckabee 59% to 35%, with Ron Paul at 6%. These results are based on interviews with 399 registered voters planning to vote in the March 4 Republican Primary in Texas. The survey's margin of error is 4 percentage points, plus or minus, at a 90% level of confidence.
