Earlier today, this site included a blog posting by Ethel C. Fenig that contained erroneous information wrongfully accusing People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals of engaging in certain specified actions.  We apologize for the error.

Statement from PETA:

People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA), with more than 2 million members and supporters, is the largest animal rights organization in the world.

PETA focuses its attention on the four areas in which the largest numbers of animals suffer the most intensely for the longest periods of time: on factory farms, in laboratories, in the clothing trade, and in the entertainment industry.

PETA's campaigns may be colorful and even provocative at times as we seek to gain attention for a serious message, but all that we do is absolutely peaceful. Real violence is taking place inside laboratories, where animals are burned, mutilated, shocked, and poisoned, and slaughterhouses, where chickens are routinely scalded to death in defeathering tanks and cows often have their limbs hacked off while they are still alive.
