The liberal way or no way

According to the commonly accepted (liberal) narrative, liberals are tolerant and open minded folk, willing to calmly listen to and accept differing points of view. In contrast, the narrative continues, conservatives are ignorant and close minded, narrow minded and bigoted, so afraid of people who don't look like them, don't think like them

they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren't like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations.

in the words of one very famous, very successful, highly educated, world traveler individual.

So by these definitions Whoopi Goldberg and Joy Behar, co hosts of the gabfest The View, are uhm conservatives. Discussing, debating, arguing about the wisdom of the proposed mosque within crashing distance of the World Trade Center with Fox talker Bill O'Reilly yesterday on their syndicated show, the ladies walked off the set after O'Reilly stated

"Muslims killed us on 9/11." Goldberg and Behar attempted to specify that it was an extremist sect within Islam and not the religion itself that attacked the U.S.

After O'Reilly continued to push his point the ladies angrily rose and took a hike.

To her credit, another The View host, Barbara Walters, immediately criticized her colleagues' reaction, publicly broadcasting

"I want to say something to all of you. You have just seen what should not happen. We should be able to have discussions without washing our hands and screaming and walking off stage. I love my colleagues, but that should not have happened."

Following the basic show business law, the show must go on, the two returned; who knows how the producers convinced them. Think of the lost advertising revenue!

Psssst! Goldberg and Behar acted in typical liberal fashion. My way or no way.
