Dream Act nightmare fades -- for now

The Dream Act, which would have rewarded young illegal immigrants with permanent residence and access to to citizenship, failed to receive the requisite 60 votes in the Senate today, postponing if not ending a potential nightmare. In addition to incentivizing more potential border crossers, the act would have made fools of those who patiently followed legal immigration procedures, which can take many years to complete.

The Democrats ndesperately want to manufactuire new voters for their failed redistributionist policies. But rewarding lawbreakers only encourages more lawbreaking.

This is a victory for law and order and sanity.
