Hurricanes? What Hurricanes?

Do you remember the predictions of more hurricanes and more powerful hurricanes and tropical cyclones predicted by Al Gore?  Al and the IPCC told us the climate is warming, and that they are very confident that the cause is human activity and the results would include more powerful hurricanes.  It  was deemed important that governments take action to curb greenhouse gas emissions.

Well, as Dr. Ryan Maue of Florida State University reported here, mother earth isn't cooperating.

"During the past 6-years since Hurricane Katrina, global tropical cyclone frequency and energy have decreased dramatically, and are currently at near-historical record lows."  And "...when each storm's intensity and duration were taken into account, the total global tropical cyclone accumulated energy (ACE) was found to have fallen by half to the lowest level since 1977."

So as the concentration of atmospheric CO2 has increased over the past 6 years, with China now emitting more than the US, tropical cyclone activity has significantly declined -- which is exactly the opposite of what the global warming fear mongers claimed.  If they are wrong about tropical cyclones why should we believe the rest of their predictions of doom and gloom?  For the record I note, as she did with tornadoes this past spring, mother nature can start creating tropical cyclones when the conditions are right.
