Another Mainstream Media Reporter Turns Up the Heat on Holder

Are some in the mainstream media having an attack of conscience? CNN'S John King has joined CBS' Sharyl Atkisson in a quest for the truth about operation Fast and Furious. The ATF program  led to the deaths of two U.S. agents,  hundreds of Mexican civilians and was apparently so far  under the radar top government officials like Holder were in the dark until late spring 2011. Yes, the same Holder whose name appears on scores of emails sent in 2010.

Now King has produced a March, 2011 CNN Espanol video of an interview with none other than President Obama stating he heard about Fast and Furious "on the news." Approximately 2 months before Holder's testimony on May 3 Obama directly contradicts his attorney general's contention he heard about the gun walking fiasco " for the first time a few weeks earlier."

From CNN ESPANOL video, March 2011 on John King USA:

BARACK OBAMA, PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES: There have been problems, you know. I heard on the news about this story that -- Fast and Furious, where allegedly guns were being run into Mexico, and ATF knew about it, but didn't apprehend those who had sent it.

Eric Holder has -- the attorney general has been very clear that he knew nothing about this. We had assigned an I.G., inspector general, to investigate it.

After viewing the tape King asks his guest, Representative Elijah Cummings,(D-MD) what may turn out to be the question of the century:

...how did the president know about this in March, and how did the president know the attorney general knew nothing about this in March, when the attorney general says in May he just learned about it a couple weeks ago?

Predictably, Cummings, the top Democrat on Issa's Committee leading the Fast and Furious investigation, covered for Holder.

I think the attorney general will clear that up.

You have got to begin to ask the question, what is this about?

I think we need to go where the evidence leads, but we have got a subpoena that has just been issued that is literally requesting tens of thousands of documents from the Justice Department.

When federal tax dollars are used for a government gun-running murder operation even 'see no evil' hacks like Cummings sound pathetic. Holder and Obama will undoubtedly coordinate their stories and reconcile any discrepancies for future hearings. Knowing the CNN Espanol interview was out there its release may have been a preemptive tactic to get it out of the way early on, who knows?

Regardless of the higher-ups and their damage-control strategy, the tangled Fast and Furious web of murder, perjury and lies is threatening to unravel. By aiding and abetting the cover-up, big media has been complicit in the scandalous, deadly fiasco. Following King's and Atkisson's example, will more mainstream journalists cross over from the dark side?
