Lessons in civility from Politico
So desperate are Obama supporters in the media that the more bigoted liberals among them have resorted to horrifying racism and sexual innuendo to demonize Mitt Romney. John Nolte of Breitbart:
Politico, the unofficial web-branch of MSNBC, and whose staff spends more time on MSNBC than Chris Matthews, has a so-called reporter named Joseph Williams who all but called Mitt Romney a racist on Martin Bashir's show today.
Williams says declaratively that Romney is only comfortable around white people.
But if you think the video clip is disgraceful, wait till you see Mr. Williams' greatest tweets collection assembled below.
"Dick" jokes about Ann Romney. Really.
Go and read the tweets. I will not reproduce them here. They reflect a sick mind.
Politico has responded with a wrist slap so far. Dylan Byers writes at that website:
"Regrettably, an unacceptable number of Joe Williams's public statements on cable and Twitter have called into question his commitment to this responsibility," POLITICO's founding editors John Harris and Jim VandeHei wrote in a memo to the staff. "His comment about Governor Romney earlier today on MSNBC fell short of our standards for fairness and judgment in an especially unfortunate way."
"Joe has acknowledged that his appearance reflected a poor choice of words," the continued. "This appearance came in the context of other remarks on Twitter that, cumulatively, require us to make clear that our standards are serious, and so are the consequences for disregarding them. This is true for all POLITICO journalists, including an experienced and well-respected voice like Joe Williams."
"Following discussion of this matter with editors, Joe has been suspended while we review the matter," they wrote.
How much discussion is necessary before firing Williams? On what planet can he be regarded as a reliable source of political reporting? The man is a hater and has a sexual fixation that is disturbing.
There was a lot more media outrage over Neil Munro daring to ask a question of Obama. The fact that the media are not hounding this man out of the profession shows me that we can expect a lot more line crossing, targeting the Romneys for vile hatred.
Barack Obama could win a lot of points from the public by criticizing Williams and calling for basic decency toward the Romneys. You know, as he did in Tucson following the Gabby Giffords shooting. Actually bring us together, as he promised to do.
But of course, it is already evident that stoking race hate/religious bigotry toward the Romneys is his strategy to drive turnout on his side.
Will the American public recoil in horror at the media and political haters? If not, we are in for some very difficult times.
