Conservative Republicans - 'It's OK to make a change'

Back in July of this year the Republican National Committee put out a thirty second ad directed primarily at Obama supporters. The ad begins by saying that Obama came to the White House with "big plans." It proceeds to list several of the president's big economic promises and then asks: "What did we get?" After listing discouraging economic data related to those specific promises the ad's hook line proclaims: "He tried, you tried - it's OK to make a change."

Considering that the Republican Party establishment leadership has been morphing the party brand into Democrat-Lite since the Reagan era, let's take that ad and replace President Obama with the Republican Party and Obama's promises with Republican establishment promises.

Since the Regan era, we've heard the Republican leadership espouse fiscal and social conservative promises - but what did we get? In the name of "compassionate conservatism," unchecked government growth, trillions in debt and deficit spending, another huge entitlement program, billions of taxpayer dollars spent to bail-out Wall Street, capitulation to liberal programs and policies in the name of bipartisanship, and the election and re-election of a president openly and unapologetically transforming America into a Euro-socialist state.

At what point should true conservatives seriously consider the hook line in the above mentioned ad when considering their Republican Party affiliation?

The establishment Republican leadership and their lock-step minions have told true conservatives for years that a third party candidate can't win and only serves to help elect and re-elect Democrats. Well in case they haven't been keeping score, Republican establishment candidates have lost the last two presidential elections all by their lonesome. And the GOP establishment election track record over the last two decades is abysmal. The only real victory won by the Republicans was in 2010 when the Tea Party energized and mobilized hundreds of thousands of conservatives and beat the opposition in historic fashion with conservative principles and ideology.  Unfortunately, after that election and with full control of the power of the purse for the entire Federal Government, the Republican establishment leadership exhibited weakness and incompetence by continuing to surrender to the opposition. And now House Speaker John Boehner has the nerve to throw several of those same Tea Party conservatives that helped put him in power under the bus while he and the Republican establishment continue to capitulate to Obama's liberal socialist policies and try and stomp out any remaining vestige of principled "Reagan" conservatism in the Republican Party.

Well it's about time for Regan conservative Republicans to face the facts. The Republican Party tried, and true conservatives tried, and guess what? It's OK to make a change!

If conservatives are going to lose elections from this point forward let it be with a political party of principle - not compromise.

New leadership or new party - what's it going to be?
