What's a liberal to do during a disaster when President George Bush (R) (either one) isn't president but liberal GOD, President Barack Hussein Obama (D), is?  No problem--just blame conservative failures for setting up the present situation and then joke about it--even the tragedy that is now unfolding in Oklahoma. 

Oklahoma is in the center of an area known as Tornado Alley.  As NPR explains 

Oklahoma sits at the heart of "Tornado Alley," which stretches from the Rocky Mountains to the Appalachians. Although on average Texas has more total tornadoes, Kansas and Oklahoma rank at the top for tornadoes per square mile.  (snip)

NOAA says that in and around Oklahoma City, "May is the peak month for all tornadoes, followed closely by April and June."

"About two thirds of all tornadoes in [Oklahoma City] have struck during those three months. Strong and violent tornadoes tend to occur slightly earlier, with April the peak month."

But hey, the facts of life in flyover country can't interfere with the basic liberal instinct to oppose Republicans and politicize the situation in Washington.

While first responders and volunteers were searching for survivors and rescuing children from the caved in school, Senator Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI), speaking in the Senate, blamed the Republicans for requesting disaster aid--and indirectly being responsible for the tornado and other disasters.

"So, you may have a question for me," Whitehouse said. "Why do you care? Why do you, Sheldon Whitehouse, Democrat of Rhode Island, care if we Republicans run off the climate cliff like a bunch of proverbial lemmings and disgrace ourselves? I'll tell you why. We're stuck in this together. We are stuck in this together. When cyclones tear up Oklahoma and hurricanes swamp Alabama and wildfires scorch Texas, you come to us, the rest of the country, for billions of dollars to recover. And the damage that your polluters and deniers are doing doesn't just hit Oklahoma and Alabama and Texas. It hits Rhode Island with floods and storms. It hits Oregon with acidified seas, it hits Montana with dying forests. So, like it or not, we're in this together."

US Forest Fire data is biased by "nearly a century of fire suppression policies" and "the shift in USFS policy from rapid suppression to 'let it burn,'", which begin "in the late 1970s", "was formalized in a 1995 statement of federal fire policy, and strengthened in a 2001 revision." Furthermore, given that continental US Temperatures are currently below average, it is absurd to blame to recent forest fire activity on Global Warming.

But...but...maybe Whitehouse can try to ban tornadoes then.

And if that fails, just blame the victims.  And gloat that they deserve their fate.  As did Lizz Winstead who is a "writer/Producer/Comedian. Co creator of The Daily Show. I point out crackpottery & stuff smart people write.

Later, notoriously, another comic tweet; "This tornado is in Oklahoma so clearly it has been ordered to only target conservatives.

Chuckle, chuckle. 

Embarrassed, she later deleted the tweet but it lives on in tweet heaven. Well, actually she wasn't embarrassed.  As she defiantly explains, "I only deleted it because a few people from OK asked me to. It's been screen grabbed, ppl can find it.z'

Oh, those rubes in Oklahoma, asking her to disown something that can easily be found elsewhere!  Can't they take a joke?  That seems to be the gist of her weak apology 2  1/2 hours after her initial tornado tweet.  And the apology is me, me, me! 

Made a political joke, Twas before devastation revealed. In hindsight, had I understood, I would have refrained. Beyond sorry.

Uhm, what is to understand?  Did the writer/producer/comedian think all tornadoes are like The Wizard of Oz, a mere bad dream?  More apologetic tweets, info on donations for tornado relief efforts plus a let me have it twitter site--busy, busy Lizz.  Well, good. 

Can a Daily Show tornado sketch be far behind?
