Connecting the Dots

A recent trespassing incident near a major Boston drinking water source failed to generate a blip on the national mainstream media news agenda. It appears that the MSM had bigger fish to fry during two weeks fraught with evolving bombshells like Benghazi, AP-, IRS-, and Fox News-gates. And while those scandals should certainly be headline news, shouldn't the authorities be a little bit more inquisitive about the seven late-night trespassers at the Quabbin Reservoir that provides drinking water to millions of Bostonians?

After all, wasn't there just a terrorist bombing at the finish line of the Boston Marathon that took at least three lives and injured hundreds - - many of whom lost limbs due to their injuries? And hasn't the FBI voiced concerns that the two men responsible for the Boston bombing did not act alone? Indeed, an FBI agent just killed a Chechen national suspect in Orlando, FL while questioning him about his connection to Tamerlan Tsarnaev and the Boston bombings.

Is it such a leap, then, to suggest that, with the two Boston bombers living in the Boston area; with the FBI suspecting that they didn't act alone; to conclude that maybe, just maybe, there is an established terrorist cell operating in the Boston area?

With those possibilities in mind, shouldn't the FBI be paying a little bit more attention to the seven trespassers at the Quabbin Reservoir? After all, the seven were from Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Singapore! Shouldn't that raise red flags in the FBI or DHS? (Oh! Wait! We aren't allowed to "profile," are we?)

When questioned by authorities, the trespassers explained that they were "chemical engineers," recently graduated from college and "cited education and career interests" for being in the area." Hello? chemical engineers? ...drinking water? ...supplying millions of Americans? Career interests? What, specifically, does that mean? And why would non-Americans be trespassing late at night in an area clearly posted "No Trespassing" at a drinking water reservoir to cultivate their "career interests?" When is the last time you (or anyone you know) explored their "career interests" in the dead of night? By trespassing on posted property, no less!

Residents of Boston who voiced concern about this incident were told the trespassers were cleared of any "wrongdoing" (except trespassing) and allowed to go free! In other words, "Nothing to see here, folks. Move along now!"

Forgive me if I remain skeptical that the true intent of these "innocent" middle easterners was only to explore career possibilities -- in the middle of the night -- in a no trespassing zone -- at the Quabbin Reservoir.
