The Pinocchio Presidency

"If you like your doctor, then you can keep your doctor under the new Health Care Act" ...at least that's what we were told. "The Benghazi incident was the result of a spontaneous uprising over an offensive anti-Muslim video that went viral" ...at least that's what we were told. "I will, by the end of my first term, cut the deficit in half"...at least that's what we were told. "We don't have an immediate debt issue" ...at least that's what we were told. And the list of lies goes on...

At what point do we begin to question anything and everything that comes from this White House? When do the vast majority of Americans wake up to the nightmare that is destroying this country from within and begin to pay attention to the coordinated effort to make every incident a priority for political gain instead of what is right for the nation? Do we REALLY believe the unemployment numbers? What about the new changes to calculating the GDP... does this really gauge our progress, or are they telling another story that makes it appear that their policies are working? The bottom line is this: Can we trust that anything emitted out of Washington even resembles the truth?

The time has come for us to realize that the reverence we place on the office of the president is one that is earned by each occupant of that office. It is not something that is a given or a right. It should not be granted to the title holder just because of an election. Respect is earned and it comes from trust. Being told one lie after another is not the way to build a foundation of trust. For this president; that horse has left the barn.

Do you honestly trust this man and his minions after the blatant fabrications they have sold us? Answer this question: "If you had a friend who constantly lied to you, about issues both big and small, just how long would you continue to allow this friend around your family?" We must not adorn the occupant of the highest office in the land with automatic trust simply because that's how we've done it in our past.

When caught in an obvious lie, the laughable Jay Carney steps up as the mouthpiece for the administration and offers more depraved lies to cover those already told. One obfuscation -- for understandable reasons -- perhaps can be excused. After all, we are a forgiving nation. But a myriad of flagrant lies; all told for nefarious reasons, is inexcusable; particularly when some of those lies conceal the true reasons behind the deaths of four Americans. As Americans, we should all be ashamed that we have allowed this group of compulsive non-truth tellers to run roughshod over the country with virtually no consequences. We are a nation of laws, not a nation of lies!

It would appear, based on past performance, that this administration's connectivity to the truth is a questionable one at best. If we are to believe the "lead by example" cliché, then why is not right for me to lie on my financial statement to my bank? If it serves my need, then it must be acceptable, right?

It has been said that if you tell a lie enough times, it will soon become the truth. In this new America, the truth is what they tell us it is. Move on, there's nothing to see here, trust us. The truth in this new America is whatever it takes to gain votes, avoid issues that will cost votes, or whatever message will further the agenda of the president. We have now become a banana republic nation where lying seems to be a commonly accepted policy from our leaders. What comes next... intimidation of select groups by the IRS? Oh wait, that's been done.

Those of us who paid attention four years ago were perfectly aware of the potential for "Chicago politics" when this man began filling his cabinet and czar positions with radicals who would walk his line. Now those chickens have come home to roost.
