Pro-Phil Robertson petition tops 250,000 signatures

I expect that news like this will force A&E Network to change their decision on suspending Phil Robertson from the show.

The network fears a loss of viewers far more than any damage the LGBT community can do to them or their sponsors.

Politico:

A petition calling for the reinstatement of Phil Robertson on "Duck Dynasty" on Friday surpassed its goal of a quarter-million signatures.

The "I Stand with Phil" petition, which met its target of 250,000 signatures by more than 1,600 as of Friday morning, calls for A&E to immediately reinstate Robertson on the popular television program after he was suspended indefinitely following the recent publication of an interview with GQ in which he made controversial remarks regarding homosexuality and African-Americans.

[...]

The letter included with the petition accuses A&E of "intolerant, discriminatory, and punitive treatment" of Robertson and says his views are "simply reflective of a Biblical view of sexuality, marriage, and family." It also calls for A&E to formally apologize to Robertson, his family and viewers of the program.

Faith Driven Consumer, an organization that focuses on Christianity in the marketplace, tweeted Thursday evening that the petition was just 2,000 signatures shy of its goal.

Many conservatives have rallied around the "Duck Dynasty" star, including Sarah Palin and Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal.

With the reversal by Crackerbarrel to continue to carry Duck Dynasty merchandise, the writing is on the wall. Corporationsh have had this knee jerk reaction to controversial speech, fearing they will become the target of boycotts and other puntitive actions. Now they also have to fear a backlash against the reaction by the left.

And there area  helluva lot more customers who are driving the backlash than those who were "offended" by Robertson's remarks.
