Fox News calls Kentucky for McConnell

The first batch of election results has come in, and the most significant close race race is Kentucky. Based on modeling of past voting trends, Fox News has called Mitch McConnell victor in Kentucky. Democrats poured tremendous amounts of money into the effort to Daschle the GOP Minority Leader, and the GOP responded in kind, pushing the total spending to one hundred million dollars in a relatively small stat with relatively inexpensive media markets.

Georgia is too close to call, and may well end up in a runoff election.

The big surprise is that Ed Gillespie, GOP challenger to Mark Warner in Virginia, is also in a race too close to call.

Lindsey Graham and Tim Scott are both expected to handily win their Senate races, making Scott the first African American Senator elected in the South since Reconstruction.
