Conference on extremism without mentioning the extremists

Worried about backing up their phony claims of global warming during winter's latest cold blast across much of the U.S., the Obama administration is going to inject some hot air into the atmosphere next month, according to Sunday's press release from Press Secretary Josh Earnest.

On February 18, 2015, the White House will host a Summit on Countering Violent Extremism to highlight domestic and international efforts to prevent violent extremists and their supporters from radicalizing, recruiting, or inspiring individuals or groups in the United States and abroad to commit acts of violence, efforts made even more imperative in light of recent, tragic attacks in Ottawa, Sydney, and Paris. This summit will build on the strategy the White House released in August of 2011, Empowering Local Partners to Prevent Violent Extremism in the United States, the first national strategy to prevent violent extremism domestically.

Countering Violent Extremism (CVE) efforts rely heavily on well-informed and resilient local communities. Boston, Los Angeles, and Minneapolis-St. Paul have taken the lead in building pilot frameworks integrating a range of social service providers, including education administrators, mental health professionals, and religious leaders, with law enforcement agencies to address violent extremism as part of the broader mandate of community safety and crime prevention. The summit will highlight best practices and emerging efforts from these communities.
At the same time, our partners around the world are actively implementing programs to prevent violent extremism and foreign terrorist fighter recruitment. The summit will include representatives from a number of partner nations, focusing on the themes of community engagement, religious leader engagement, and the role of the private sector and tech community.

Through presentations, panel discussions, and small group interactions, participants will build on local, state, and federal government; community; and international efforts to better understand, identify, and prevent the cycle of radicalization to violence at home in the United States and abroad. Additional information regarding participants and the agenda will be provided at a future date.

As expected from an administration whose idea of transparency is total opaqueness combined with twisted distractions and meaningless busyness, "violent extremism" and "violent extremists" aren't defined.  Extremism could be anything – disagreeing with Obama, for instance.  And the violent extremists, especially domestically, could perhaps be (insert here)...hmm...maybe Catholic nuns, Amish farmers, or some oh so scary Jewish accountants.  And the helpless victims, unless there is this summit, are...why, of course, those nonexistent backlashed Muslims.

However, if President Barack Obama (D) or his vice president Joe Biden (D) had been in Paris on Sunday to honor and remember the victims of the latest violent extremism from (shhh) (Muslim) violent extremists, they might have  heard and learned from Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu, whose country has suffered countless attacks from (Muslim) violent extremist terrorists.  Not afraid to call them by name, he boldly stated:

These attacks in Paris are the continuation of extremist Islam’s war against our free civilization, in the West, in the entire modern world and also in the moderate Arab states and among entire publics in the Islamic world. This is a wave of terrorism that is spreading a global net of hatred, fanaticism and murder. After establishing its bases in the Middle East, terrorism is now sending its arms throughout the world. If the world does not take action quickly, we will find this terrorism gaining momentum and increasingly striking at other centers of the free world and in other places.

The terrorist organizations of extremist Islam have many and varied names – Hamas, Hezbollah, Islamic State, Al Qaida, Nusra, Islamic Jihad and Boko Haram. They are all motivated by the same bloody hatred and the same fanaticism that knows no borders.

They want to take humanity 1,000 years backward to a dark tyranny that we freed ourselves from after many generations. They simply want to take humanity backward

Further proof that these organizations are branches of the same poisonous tree may be seen in the fact that one of Hamas’s official organs praised the reprehensible murderers in Paris. It must be understood that this is a war against us all.

I am convinced that if we are united this terrorism will be unable to defeat us. But if we ignore the true root of the problem, if we ignore the fact that extremist Islamic terrorism seeks to exterminate Western civilization as a whole, including the Jewish People, if we ignore this – what we are now seeing in Paris will be only the beginning. These are not frightening words or prophecies of rage, this is the simple reality and the time has come to recognize it. (italics added)

Unless Obama and friends recognize the simple reality by linking violent extremism to Islam, the conference will be, paraphrasing Macbeth, full of sound and fury, signifying that we can't utter the truth, so the Muslim terrorism can continue.

And the resulting hot air will be scorchingly destructive.
