Watch Your Language

In the days since the murder of editors and cartoonists at Charlie Hebdo by Muslim terrorists, we have been treated to endless equivocation, capitulation, and spin by the usual suspects.  Politicians and pundits wasted no time in padding their liberal bona fides by absolving Islam itself.  Howard Dean said the murderers were "about as Muslim as I am."  Zbigniew Brzezinski highlighted the vulgarity of the cartoons, stopping just short (but not short enough) of blaming the victims themselves for their own demise.

Not to be outdone, The Huffington Post ran this article, which does not stop short of blaming the entire country of France for the attack.  In it, the authors link to this HuffPo item, in which France is also deeply anti-Semitic.  Read that article carefully and note what it leaves out (hint: Muslims are doing a sizable chunk of the Jew-hating).  They also link to this summary overview of anti-Semitism in Europe, published by the European Union Agency for Fundamental Rights.  Scroll down to the section on France and you will notice that, again, Muslim immigrants are out-performing the homegrown, neo-Nazi competition.

Numerous, more subtle examples abound, in which media outlets advance the liberal narrative not by what they say, but by what they don't.  One example should do: Vice News, which is fond of branding itself as a cutting-edge, fearless, and independent news organization, ran with the headline Paris Gun Attack.  Because Muslim terrorists didn't murder those people -- guns did, apparently.

Conservatives who pay attention are not surprised.  We are, sadly, used to this cowardice from the liberal media, whose cognitive dissonance puts them in the position having to choose between defending free speech and being careful not to offend.  It would be laughable if it weren't so depressing.
