What if the Oregon shooter had been a Christian?

One has to wonder what the outcome would have been if the shooter in Oregon who killed 13 people had been a fundamentalist Christian in the mold of Kim Davis.  And what if that person, rather than asking people their religion, had asked them if they support gay marriage – and put a bullet in the head of anyone who said yes?

The outrage out of every politician's mouth, out of every newspaper, news website, and blog, would have been deafening: hate crime, hate crime, hate crime!  But since this man who ended up killing 13 people was a failed military recruit, apparently into the occult, and a loser when it came to attracting a female companion – as is the case with most of the other mass killers – the focus becomes all about gun control, and not about the murderer's many failures in life.  The only person to come out and declare this a hate crime against Christians was the actor James Woods, one of the few conservative voices in liberal Hollywood, here.

The chances of a Christian doing such a thing as this are next to nil.  Christians are among the most honest and peaceful people in the world, but they have been smeared and denigrated for so long their image to many is just the opposite.

The following is what was reported by the New York Post:

A gunman singled out Christians, telling them they would see God in “one second,” during a rampage at an Oregon college Thursday left a least nine innocent people dead and several more wounded, survivors and authorities said.

“[He started] asking people one by one what their religion was. ‘Are you a Christian?’ he would ask them, and if you’re a Christian, stand up. And they would stand up and he said, ‘Good, because you’re a Christian, you are going to see God in just about one second.’ And then he shot and killed them,” Stacy Boylen, whose daughter was wounded at Umpqua Community College in Roseburg, Ore., told CNN.

We got the usual political posturing from the president and voices on the left. Obama went so far as to come out and say he was politicizing the tragedy, calling for more gun control – a tacit admission that he's been doing that all along.  One could go so far as to infer from that one statement that everything he's said, whether it's about mass shootings or the death of a black man by a police officer, has been politicized.  How can one really know if he hasn't now that he's come clean this time?

If it had been a Christian taking out gay marriage supporters, churches everywhere would have feds monitoring their sermons, laws would be proposed and passed that would shut down free speech, and there would be a movement afoot to immediately confiscate guns.  If only things had gone the other way for the left.  It would be their dream scenario to finish off organized religion for good and cement their godless ideology onto the country.
