Black Lives Matter protesters live down to their reputation

Imagine paying $62,000 a year to attend Dartmouth college.  You're in the library, dutifully studying, when all of a sudden, the respectful quiet is broken by several dozen students screaming "Black Lives Matter."  Some of the protesters get in the face of students demanding they say "Black Lives Matter."  Others scream racist obscenities at white students.

This is the face of "Black Lives Matter": not just angry, but threatening, thuggish, and basically out of control.

Mediaite:

In a critical editorial, the conservative Dartmouth Review listed some of the epithets hurled by the protesters: “F**k you, you filthy white f**ks!” “F**k you and your comfort!” “F**k you, you racist sh*ts!”

In addition, the Review reports that some of protesters became physically violent: “Men and women alike were pushed and shoved by the group. ‘If we can’t have it, shut it down!’ they cried. Another woman was pinned to a wall by protesters who unleashed their insults, shouting ‘filthy white bitch!’ in her face.”

Campus Reform managed to obtain video showing the protesters walking through the library shouting as others try to study. One of the protesters can be seen flipping off the cameraman. Another gets in the face of those who are studying demanding they say that black lives matter.

One of the protesters posted online, saying they were ashamed of what the protest turned into. “After making a girl cry, a protester screamed ‘F**k your white tears,'” he reports. “I was startled by the aggression from a small minority of students towards students in the library, many of whom were supporters of the movement.”

The BLM supporter shouldn't be "startled."  Even if the students were supporters of BLM, they had the unfortunate luck of being born the wrong skin color.  That matters far more than where one's sympathies lie.

Leftist critics say we should concentrate on the behavior of the majority of BLM protesters.  OK, fine.  As far as I've been able to determine, not one single leader of BLM has called out any individuals for chanting, "Pigs in a blanket.  Fry 'em like bacon."  I have yet to hear any BLM leader criticizing the attacks on free speech, or freedom of thought evident in that library, as well as on campuses across the country.

Until the leaders of BLM demonstrate they are not in sympathy with the nauseating racism and thuggery that was on display in the Dartmouth library, the movement will continue to be defined by its worst elements.  That's political reality, and remaining ignorant of that fact will consign them to political oblivion.
