The Republican Establishment has finally exposed its game plan for the 2016 presidential nominating process: go all out for Rubio, destroy Cruz’s character, and set up a one on one between Trump and Rubio.  If Rubio cannot win the nomination outright, then make certain that the entire process ends up in a brokered convention.  They are convinced that Trump, as he appears to have a ceiling of around 35-40% among Republican voters, easily can be defeated by another candidate.  The question is whom, and their overwhelming answer is Rubio, as the donor class are opening up their wallets and the endorsements of establishment politicians are flowing.  Further, the reason Rubio has studiously avoided critizing Trump for the entire campaign to date has become clear.

Additionally, now that Jeb Bush has withdrawn, there are rumblings that major Republican donors are after Kasich to also quit.  The drumbeat will accelerate after Nevada and Super Tuesday, when Kasich will be forced to abandon his campaign.  Thus, the decks will be cleared for Rubio – the anointed one of Fox News and the Republican Establishment.

However, who is Rubio?  He is a ruthless opportunist whose entire career has been spent relentlessly pursuing one political office after another, all the while relying on his boyish good looks and gift of obfuscation.  One of his few major accomplishments while in the Florida House was to continually miss votes and meetings while focusing on the next step in his political career and to take whatever position on an issue aided his ambition.  This same pattern was repeated when he was in the U.S. Senate.  He is held in such low regard by his colleagues in the Florida House that they published a letter in New Hampshire urging voters to vote for Jeb Bush, not Rubio.

But the most egregious example of his lack of ethics and honesty is his campaign for the U.S. Senate in 2010.  He was a supporter of the rights of illegal immigrants prior to his announcement to run for the Senate; however, he quickly pivoted and transformed himself into an anti-illegal immigrant hawk once he became a candidate.  With the support of the Tea Party and many national conservatives, whom he successfully hoodwinked, he won the election.  Nonetheless, within two years, he joined the “Gang of Eight” in unabashedly promoting the most radical immigration legislation in American history, thus betraying his constituents in Florida and supporters around the country, as his sole ambition once in the Senate was to run for the office of president of the United States. 

Marco Rubio has always been malleable as well as willing to do the bidding of the ruling class, who are now rallying behind him.  Wall Street and other deep-pocket donors are his primary allies, along with the Republican political hierarchy in Washington.  His Alinsky-style tactics against Ted Cruz, constantly and repeatedly calling him a liar without any evidence, are what would be expected of a radical leftist or a megalomaniac seeking power at all costs and doing whatever it takes to obfuscate his own record.  As Mark Levin recently wrote:

But when the candidate himself [Rubio] is the source of the Alinskyite tactics, not staffer acting on his own, that is an entirely different matter.  I had high hopes for Rubio when I was among his earliest supporters against Charlie Crist in Florida.  But I am deeply disappointed in him, as are many who voted for him.  The glowing endorsements from establishment Republicans, most of whom cannot better articulate his accomplishments than he can, emphasize the point.

Marco Rubio is the epitome of the perfect candidate of the ruling class, as he will perpetuate their strangle hold on the levers of power and will insure that their standard of living and status aer not threatened.

I do not support Trump for various reasons having to do primarily with his unbridled narcissism as well as not being able to fully trust who he is, as he has been and still is on both sides of the political spectrum on virtually every issue.  However, if the Establishment succeeds in foisting Marco Rubio on the Republican electorate at the expense of both Donald Trump and Ted Cruz, the Republican Party will end up on the ash heap of history.  There will be a political earthquake.
