3 top officials resign from the Democratic National Committee

With less than a hundred days to go before a presidential election, the top management of one of the two major parties has been wiped out.  But the media narrative remains (and always will remain until November 8) that the other party, the Republican Party, is falling apart over Donald Trump, of course.

The Wikileaks DNC email hack is at the root of the departures, as all three senior officials were incriminated by emails they sent.  David Sherfinski and Dave Boyer of the Washington Times report:

[T]he Democratic National Committee announced Tuesday the departures of its chief executive officer, chief financial officer, and communications director, in the wake of an embarrassing email hack that already prompted the resignation of the DNC chair.

Amy Dacey, the DNC’s CEO, Brad Marshall, its CFO, and top spokesman Luis Miranda are all leaving the organization as the party looks forward to the general election contest between Hillary Clinton, its presidential nominee, and GOP nominee Donald Trump.

Stepping in to sweep up the broken glass and start rebuilding is someone who’s been with the party more than a month:

Brandon Davis, who came aboard in June, will continue in his role as chief of staff and will oversee “all aspects” of the committee’s general election efforts, the party said.

Ms. Brazile also announced that Democratic strategist Doug Thornell will serve as a senior adviser on a temporary basis.

I bet there will be a lot of kibitzing for Davis, not least from Brazile.

The DNC was not a major focus for Obama, which is why he left Debbie Wasserman Schultz in charge.  He has always been about building his own database, his own organizational base, not the party’s.

Nevertheless, the DNC will undoubtedly face internal miscommunication, poor coordination, and simple bumbling as new people learn their jobs and get a lot of advice from people with their own conflicting motives.

But the media will be sure to remind us that the important problems are all on the GOP side.  Because Trump.
