Writing for the New York Times on the morning after Donald Trump's election victory, Thomas Friedman lamented, "[A]t the moment I am in anguish, frightened for my country and for our unity. And for the first time, I feel homeless in America."

I'm pretty sure Friedman is speaking in metaphoric manner.  I used to live a few neighborhoods away from Friedman.  Here's his house:

Completed in 2003 on over seven acres of prime Bethesda, Maryland inside-the-D.C. Beltway real estate, and consisting of 10 baths and 11,420 square feet, the home's current tax value is in excess of $9 million.

Not too shabby for a poor guy who feels homeless!  What he's really saying is that he has suddenly realized he is completely detached from Main Street Americans.  

I wonder why.
