Progressive Hollywood icon: DNC is ‘completely corrupt’

America’s left wing is divided over Hillary Clinton, and even though the media prefer to ignore the story and pretend that only the GOP has significant internal resistance to its nominee.  Bernie Sanders, who once led a wildly enthusiastic rebellion against the candidate who made millions from secret speeches to global financial elites, has fully submitted to the weight of the establishment. Yesterday, in North Carolina, he completed his self-degradation.

Bernie Sanders was effusive in his praise of Hillary Clinton. The Democratic nominee returned the favor, declaring how much fun it was to be running with him, not against him.

And together, Clinton and Sanders delivered a tag-team assault on Donald Trump before a crowd of more than 5,000 here, alternately mocking the Republican for his inflated ego and warning of the danger he could pose in the Oval Office.

"I disagree with Donald Trump on virtually all of his policy positions. But what upsets me the most -- it's beyond disagreement -- is we have struggled for so many years to overcome discrimination," the Vermont senator said. "And he is running his campaign, the cornerstone of which is bigotry. We are not going back to a bigoted society."

Senator Sanders has his own reasons, I am sure. The Clinton empire stands to make billions of dollars off the presidency if Bernie does not discourage his followers from voting for the candidate he excoriated in the primaries. Having purchased his third home, a vacation property on an island in Vermont, perhaps he has decided further resistance is not just futile but hazardous to his welfare, financial and otherwise.

But some other leftists, not dependent on Democrartic Party goodwill, are blunter. Take, for example, Susan Sarandon, who passionately believes the progressive delusions on human nature. Speaking with Carol Costello on CNN:

SARANDON: “I wanted to vote for somebody who in some way is concerned about the things that concern me. After my experience in the primary it’s very clear to me that the DNC, and also reading e-mails, that the DNC is gone. We need a progressive party. So if she can get 5 percent the next time around that means we could have a really viable third party.”

COSTELLO: “What do you mean, the DNC is gone? What do you mean by that?”

SARANDON: “It’s completely corrupt and in bed with every — every super delegate is a lobbyist. The way the system is set up in terms of having super delegates, that you could win a state and not get the delegates is crazy.”

Sarandon is cutting a lot of slack for Sanders:

COSTELLO: “Do you still hold admiration for Bernie Sanders since he’s supporting Hillary Clinton now?”

SARANDON: “Absolutely. Look, Bernie has said, ‘Don’t ever listen to me if I tell you how to vote.’ What he did was show people they counted. He brought them hope, he’s supporting a lot of candidates. It’s very important to go to vote for down the ticket.”

This is morally bankrupt, supporting a supporter of corruption for supporting the corrupt candidate. Hatred for Trump and the GOP can cause miraculous logical somersaults when it comes to justifying nonsense.  He gave people false hope and betrayed their ideals.

Sarandon wants her purity cake, but has just consumed it with her words on Sanders. But at least she sees that the DNC has fallen into the hands of a crooked cabal.  If she wants to do something about it, a vote for Jill Stein will be useless. If Sarandon believes her own rhetoric, she should vote Trump.
